Don’t just live. Craft a life you love.
The ongoing act of following joy, purpose and meaning to make your one life, better.
Life is something that you can leave to chug along, correcting course occasionally to maintain maximum ease, comfort and stability. Or you can pay attention, put some effort in, and wake up to the fact that it is short and sharp, and that both its beauty and its meaning comes from you.
Life craft is the ongoing act of creating an existence that suits you, of turning your one whirl on this incredible world into one with as much connection and curiosity as possible. It’s about choosing what to keep and what to let go of to create space to build a more beautiful, meaningful life. Then letting the ripples spread out into the world.
What is Life Craft?
Life Craft is the practice of shaping a life that’s not just lived, but loved. It’s about:
Finding (and following) joy and purpose.
Creating space for curiosity and connection.
Noticing and nourishing sparks.
Watching the ripples spread.
It’s not about perfection, expectations, or how it looks to the outside world. It’s about paying attention to the things that glint and gleam, experimenting and exploring to create a life that suits you, one conscious choice at a time.
Why Me? Why This?
I’ve been exploring ‘life craft’ for decades, before I knew what it was, through all the messiness of real life - three kids and relationships, joy and jobs, moves and money, changing priorities, places and people.
I’m writing a book called Life Craft, weaving memoir, philosophy, and personal development into a celebration of how good life can be. A year-long Mastery of Business and Empathy course helped me explore what makes a good life - for individuals, communities, and our planet. And the hundreds of articles I’ve written over the past 20 years have all circled the same question: how do you make a life that suits while fitting into the wider world?
Along the way, I’ve learned a lot about what’s important for making life good. I don’t know how to make your life good or what you should do - that bit is up to you. But life craft can help you find out.
Why Women, Especially?
Women move through powerful life transitions: deciding about having children, raising them (or not), caring roles, menopause, and everything in between. These turning points are challenging, but they’re also opportunities: chances to pause, reflect, and reshape life.
Too often though, these chances for joy and meaning get buried under expectations, care, and responsibility. Instead of discovering choice and agency, you find resentment and the dull, achey feeling of wanting more. Life craft can help you craft a life that feels authentic, exciting, and deeply your own.

“We all yearn for more, and sense that there is more. But we do very little about fixing it, about trying to concentrate our time on finding out what these things are and then exploring them. Life is supposed to be more real, more beautiful and more meaningful.”
